The most honest day of the season.

Venus cazimi, Scorpio season, and Mercury Rx eve. All on the same Friday.

Today is a lot. In the best way.

Three things are happening simultaneously that I want to name clearly, because each one alone would be significant and together they make today one of the most potent Fridays of the year.

First: Venus cazimi.

When a retrograde planet passes directly in front of the Sun, it's called a cazimi, meaning “heart of the Sun". It's a moment of clarity and distillation. Everything the retrograde has been reviewing gets temporarily illuminated with unusual precision. Today Venus — which has been retrograde in Scorpio since October 3, reviewing your values, your desires, your relationships, what you actually want beneath what you've been willing to admit — passes through the heart of the Sun.

What this means: Today is a day for extraordinary honesty about what you value. Not what you think you should value. Not what makes sense on paper. What is actually, deeply, non-negotiably true for you.

Second: Scorpio season begins.

The Sun crosses into Scorpio today, which deepens everything. Scorpio isn't interested in the performance of your life. It's interested in what's real underneath it. Combined with the Venus cazimi, this is a day that asks for truth-telling at a level that most people avoid.

Third: Mercury retrograde begins tomorrow.

Which means today is the last day of clear, forward-moving communication for the next three weeks. If there's something true you need to say, whether to yourself or to someone else, in writing or in a conversation, today is the day to say it while the words are still running clean.

✨ SPELL

  • Even when the moon isn’t new or full, we don’t have to wait for a “special” sky to practice reclaiming ourselves.

Ritual isn’t about the calendar—it’s about interrupting the grind, reorienting to what matters, and reminding yourself you’re not just here to produce.

Here’s a ritual for this week, aligned with the current zodiacal season. Minimal supplies. Maximum reclamation.

Fire for Venus Cazimi Clarity

A ritual for the most honest day of the season.

Supplies:

  • A candle

  • Paper and pen

Steps:

  1. Light the candle.

  2. Write the truest thing you know about what you want. The version you haven't said out loud because it felt like too much to claim.

  3. Read it into the flame.

  4. Say aloud: "This is what is true. Today the Sun sees it. So do I."

  5. Fold the paper toward you and keep it through Mercury retrograde.

This is what you're anchoring: Your own truth, witnessed by the brightest light available, on the day the season deepens.

✊ HEX

  • You don’t need a rundown of the headlines. You’re living them. Whether you’re in the U.S. or just suffering under its ripple effects, the harm is real—and relentless.

    This isn’t catharsis. It’s counter-spell.

Each HEX is a ritual of refusal—a channel for holy rage, spiritual disruption, and deliberate, directed dissent.

Here’s who we’re targeting. And what to do about it.

Your Vote Is the Spell

November 3 is eleven days away.

I want to talk about voting. Not as a civics lesson, not as a performance of optimism I don’t fully feel, but as the hex itself.

Because here is what I know about systems of hierarchical power: they are most threatened when the people they’ve been designed to exclude show up anyway. Every voter suppression tactic, every confusing ballot measure, every intimidation tactic at a polling place, every social media post designed to make you feel like your vote doesn’t matter… all of it is the system telling you something about itself.

It’s telling you it’s afraid of you.

So let’s talk practically. Because the hex requires showing up, and showing up requires a plan.

Make your plan now.

November 3 is a Tuesday. Figure out when you’re going before Tuesday arrives. Before work, after work, lunch break, whatever makes it happen. If your polling place has changed, look it up now at vote.gov. If you’re not sure you’re registered, check now. Today. Not on November 2. (And if you want some accountability, reply to this email and tell me your voting plan. I’ll check in.)

If you’re in line when the polls close, stay in line.

This is the law in every state. If you are physically in line when the polls close, you have the right to vote. Nobody can tell you to leave. Nobody can remove you from the line. Stay. In. Line.

If anyone tries to intimidate you at the polls, know your rights.

Voter intimidation is a federal crime. If someone is questioning your right to vote, photographing voters, or making you feel unsafe at a polling place, you can call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE. They have lawyers standing by on Election Day. You can also report to your local election officials. Document everything: time, location, what happened, what was said.

If you’re voting on an electronic machine, look at your ballot before you submit it.

Reports are circulating (and officials are disputing them, which, as we discussed last week, means we check anyway) out of Tennessee and Indiana about early voting irregularities. Whether or not any specific machine has been tampered with, your eyes on your ballot before you hit submit are the most important safeguard available. Read every selection. Make sure it reflects what you chose. If something looks wrong, alert a poll worker immediately and request a new ballot. You are allowed to do this.

In Tennessee specifically: You can request up to three replacement ballots. If a poll worker writes on your ballot, it does not automatically invalidate it, but you can request a new one if you want one. And if you see something that concerns you, the ACLU of Tennessee has resources at aclu-tn.org.

On the candidates not being perfect:

They’re not. They never are. And I’m not going to tell you to feel good about voting for someone who doesn’t fully represent you, because that feeling is real and it’s not wrong.

What I’ll say is this: In this moment, voting is not necessarily an endorsement. It is a harm reduction calculation made under duress in a system that was not designed for us. The question is not “do I love this candidate,” it’s “which outcome protects the most vulnerable people in my community from the most immediate harm.”

That’s a different question. And it has a different answer.

The matriarchal framework we’ve been building all year centers the most vulnerable. So does the harm reduction vote.

Vote like the most vulnerable person in your community is watching. Because they are.

So today we hex everything trying to stop you from showing up.

We hex the voter suppression tactics dressed up as election security.
We hex the social media posts designed to make you feel like your vote doesn’t count.
We hex the intimidation at polling places that is, by the way, a federal crime.
We hex the electronic systems that need your eyes on them more than your trust.
We hex the exhaustion that makes staying home feel like self-care when it isn’t.
We hex the perfection standard that would rather you stay home than vote for someone imperfect.
We hex the hierarchy that is most afraid of the people it has most tried to exclude.

And we bless the showing up.

The imperfect showing up.
The exhausted showing up.
The “I don’t love any of these options” showing up.
The standing in line past close showing up.
The checking your ballot twice showing up.

Your vote is the spell.
Cast it deliberately.

PS: Mercury retrograde begins tomorrow in Scorpio, the same sign Venus has been reviewing. These next three weeks will ask you to slow down, revisit, and communicate with care rather than speed. Inside The Spiral Path, we move through retrograde seasons together. And if what's surfacing needs 1:1 depth work, The Deep End is open. The Sacred Systems course bundle (Reclaiming Your Nervous System, Reclaiming Spirituality, Reclaiming Intuition) is also open at kelilynjewel.com/sacred-systems if the retrograde is pointing you toward structural change in how you inhabit yourself.
