Reclaiming Spirituality
How do you communicate with…whatever it is you believe in? (Spirit, the universe, your guides, god/goddess, your higher self... Whatever language you use, put that here.)
And how do you *receive* communication in return?
These are two very different things. And I often find that folks will talk and ask, but not get quiet and listen. So they lose faith in whatever they believe exists to support them, sometimes developing resentment. Then, if left to fester, that resentment can turn inward and they can start thinking there’s something wrong with them because they’re not receiving any kind of messaging.
In order to receive, we have to be open to it. So if you’re not creating the space for that openness — the space for that reception — I encourage you to do so.
For me, I both communicate and receive communication via the Akashic Records (if you’re unfamiliar, think of it as a meditative space or astral realm), as well as writing. I communicate and receive communication via dreams, tarot and oracle cards, and a million other little methods.
Writing, though, has been a really powerful tool for my spiritual work. And given how common writing is used as a tool for thought work, I want to invite you to put this lens on it and see what happens.
When I write free-form, stream-of-consciousness, it’s always telling in the beginning. It shows me what I’ve been thinking about, and often what I’ve been spinning about. But when I do it over time, after a few days, it takes on a different tone. I call it “channeled writing,” which means different things to different people. (And whatever comes to mind for you…that’s probably not what I mean by it.)
But it’s as if the writing doesn’t necessarily come FROM me, and instead comes THROUGH me. Like, I’m the one physically moving the pen on the paper, but I don’t necessarily know what I’m writing, and if I look at it days later, I won’t necessarily remember having written it.
This is how some of my offers have been created. It’s part of what makes my work easy for me to do. And I give credit to this process for some of the most amazing experiences I’ve been able to facilitate for my clients.
It used to be a little startling when I’d flip back through my journals and see things that looked unfamiliar. But now it’s fun and exciting!
So my invitation for you this month is to offer yourself the opportunity to be free-form, stream-of-consciousness on a consistent basis and see if it takes on a new tone after a while.
This can be writing, but doesn’t necessarily have to be. It can be drawing, painting, recorded spoken word, sculpture, or anything else that comes to mind for you. Do it consistently for the next month and see what you notice. See what kind of space it creates for you to not only communicate, but to *receive* communication.
